Chronologie

Du IXè au XXè siècle.

– Au 9è siècle, la plupart des terres de la vallée de l’Huveaune appartenait aux moines de l’Abbaye de Saint Victor.

– Au 18é siècle

Adhemar de Castellane s’installe et crée le domaine de Castellane.

– 1793

une carte est dressée et montre l’existence de la Bastide des Boissons future Villa Air-Bel.

– 1903

la Famille Thumin fait l’acquisition du domaine. Augustine et Balthazar sont alors propriétaires de la Villa et de son parc.

– Aout 1940 -> 4 septembre 41

Période du CAS en présence de Varian Fry à Marseille. Son expulsion sera difficile pour lui même et tout le personnel du CAS.

Septembre 41 -> Juin 42

Période du CAS sous la direction de Daniel Bénédite. Période moins flamboyante que celle en présence des surréalistes, mais tout aussi importante pour les communautés alsaciennes et espagnoles

– 1969

Cité Air-Bel début du chantier de logement social à Air-Bel.

– en 1971,

Les 1er habitants s’installent dans la Cité. La villa reste sans suivi ni surveillance blottie sur la colline au milieu des pins et des platanes. Elle est livrée au pillage progressif et devient un terrain de jeu pour les riverains.

– 1982

Foyer Marylise, la mise en ruine de la Villa Air-Bel laisse place à la maison de retraite Marylise.

– 2013

Fermeture de Marylise, le déménagement du foyer pour personnes agées laisse à nouveau le site devant un destin incertain.

Chronology

From the 9th to the 20th century

– In the 9th century,

most of the land in the Huveaune river valley belonged to the Abbey of Saint Victor.

– In the 18th century,

Adhemar de Castellane settled in the area and created the domain of Castellane.

– In 1793,

according to a map, there was the Bastide des Boissons, the future Air-Bel.

– In 1904,

the Thumin family acquired the estate. Augustine and Balthazar T-humin, sister and brother, became the owners of the Villa and its park.

– August 1940 – September 4th 1941,

Varian Fry presides over the CAS in Marseilles. His expulsion comes as a blow to all.

– September 41 – June 42,

Daniel Bénédite assumed the direction of the CAS, and life at Air-Bel changed dramatically. The flamboyant era of the Surrealists was over, but another period just as important, was beginning for the Alsatian and Spanish refugees.

– in 1969,

The beginning of the construction site for public housing.

– in 1971,

the first residents settled in the Cité. The Villa, abandoned and unprotected, was plundered and decimated.

– 1982,

Foyer Marylise, The Villa, now a total ruin, was demolished to make way for the Marylise retirement home.

– 2013,

Marylise was closed as a home for the elderly. The site once again faces an uncertain future.
